Student Zone

Welcome to our Student Zone - the home for AWF resources for veterinary students.

What would you do?

As a newly qualified vet how would you deal with a case which may involve animal cruelty and domestic violence? Just one of the dilemmas featured in the case studies used at our Lancaster Forum for final year students.

The Lancaster Forum has been developed into a series of events across all vet schools, rather than an annual one off event, but due to popular demand we’ve collated the case studies for students to use. Based on real life scenarios faced by vets, each case study presents the ethical, veterinary and legal considerations in a clear concise format. Read more...

AWF welfare talks

We organise free talks on animal welfare issues for undergraduates at vet and vet nurse schools, which includes up to £200 for refreshments.  From “Sheep are not Stupid” to “Dangerous Dogs”, these interactive sessions are delivered by knowledgeable speakers with a wealth of experience to impart to future vets. To book a talk for your school check out the talks menu.  Watch our Events section for the latest news.

What students say:

"It was a brilliant evening and it incited some really thoughtful questions".

"We are very grateful to AWF for facilitating the talk – it’s excellent to be able to offer additional talks at the vet school from external speakers about topics that are not ordinarily covered, thus widening education and interest".

Association of Veterinary Students

AVS help us to plan Vet School events and an AVS representative attends AWF meetings.
